1 Corinthians 2:14-16 (MSG) The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah’s question, “Is there anyone around who knows God’s Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?” has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ’s Spirit.
Decisions in life aren’t always easy. The spirit of the world is in constant conflict for our choices. To the world, our life path should be based upon material achievement and financial security/success. Anything less is foolish. However, when we are in tune with the Spirit of God, we see choices based upon different priorities. We learn to look inwardly and see which path would improve our influence for the Kingdom, our relationship with God and others. The world demands that our choices be based upon leaving an inheritance of wealth and a legacy of achievement. The Spirit of Christ within us calls us to leave behind souls who have an inheritance in heaven, and a legacy of love. Which will you allow to influence your choices today?
Holy Spirit, I need Your wisdom to be strong in my mind. Forgive me for quenching Your power with my own thoughts and desires. Help me to know that things that don’t make sense by worldly standards could be Your call for a step of faith. I submit to Your lead! Amen
