Daily Dose 2-9-18

Matthew 26:14-16 Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

What could have happened to make Judas betray Jesus? We look at his situation in disbelief – and some disgust. We quickly judge Judas and wonder how he could have sold out his savior for such a small amount. Our actions today may not have us receive a pay off to put Jesus on the cross, but face it – sin is sin. The more subtle betrayal we portray when we allow sin to rule in our hearts, or refuse to obey when we know God is calling us to action, drove the nails in His hands just as much as the betrayal for thirty pieces of silver. What is it that the world or your own selfish desires offer you that make you willing to put Him on the cross?

Precious Savior, I may not be willing to take a bribe to disown you, but I know that sin in my life put you on the cross just as much as Judas’ pay off did. Please help me visualize that exchange whenever I am tempted or allow life to get ahead of You in my priorities. Thank You for loving Judas as You went to the cross for him – and me. Amen
