Luke 2:19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
We will not be called to be the mother of God’s son, but He has chosen assignments for us each day. How we approach those assignments says a lot about our faith. He may call us to assignments that seem too hard for us to handle. He may have big assignments in the future that He asks us to prepare for with smaller assignments today. He may be asking us to wait on His timing for the next mission. Our job is to stay close to Him, always trusting, always loving, always learning more of Him. Mary’s assignment was a huge one. She undoubtedly was afraid, unsure and felt unworthy. Earlier in Luke, we see Mary humbly accept her assignment and later dancing with joy as she shared the news with Elizabeth. From this scripture, we see as she took another step in her mission, she took the time to reflect on her relationship with God and her role in His purpose. Treasure up each step you take in your God assignments. Ponder what He wants you to learn along the way. Thank God for Mary’s acceptance of her role and use her attitude to help you fulfill your role in His purpose.
Father, I thank You for the gift of Your son. I am in awe of Mary’s fulfillment of her assignment. Help me to approach Your assignments with Mary’s attitude. May I accept Your tasks with humility and joy – even if Your call is to wait. Help me ponder each step on our journey as an opportunity to draw closer to You. Thank You for Jesus the baby Mary delivered – thank You for Jesus the man who delivers me. I love You! Amen
