Proverbs 21:2 A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart.
There may not be a long physical distance between the mind and the heart, but the actions that come from them can be as vast as the Grand Canyon. When we operate under the direction of our minds, it is so easy to justify our actions. We can rationalize any desire and pursuit. However, when we submit to the Holy Spirit and become familiar with our heart, we see things from a Kingdom perspective. When we make decisions based solely on our list of pros and cons, we risk missing God’s purpose and bigger picture. The key to making good life choices is to put our hearts on the scale before listening to our mind. The closer we come in relationship with God, the more familiar we are with the leading of the Holy Spirit. Spend time in the Word and in prayer, asking God to teach you how to weigh Your heart so the scales tip to the side of righteousness!
Father, Thank You so much for Your Holy Spirit that helps me discern my motives. Help me become more attuned to that leading and follow quickly. Protect my heart from impure motives that my mind can easily justify. I love You Amen
