Daily Dose 11-20-17

James 4:7-10 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Our culture doesn’t encourage many attitudes of submission. We are taught concepts such as: look out for number one; look within your inner self; you are in control; it’s all about you; you deserve it. That is not God’s way of thinking. He wants us to change all that and change is not easy for most of us. He wants us to learn and live by concepts such as look out for others; look to God; God IS in control, it’s all about glorifying God; God’s grace is my only hope. This is what submission looks like. When we learn to live submitted to God, He can lift our lives to the next level – living in peace, inner joy and contentment.

Father, My heart and spirit desire full submission to You, but my flesh gets in the way. Empower Your Spirit to help me submit so You can lift me up! I love You! Amen
