Ephesians 4:26-32 (MSG) Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don't use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don't stay angry. Don't go to bed angry. Don't give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life. Did you use to make ends meet by stealing? Well, no more! Get an honest job so that you can help others who can't work. Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift. Don't grieve God. Don't break his heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don't take such a gift for granted. Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians is a great book for learning how to live the Christian life. Anger is a part of our physical make-up. However, how we behave as a result of that anger is where we differ from non-believers. How we talk and what is considered improper coming out of the mouth of a Christian has changed through the generations. We have allowed ourselves to become desensitized to what is offensive to God. Think about what you say today! Any sin that we allow to continue in our lives diminishes the Holy Spirit’s ability to guide us properly. Stop fighting the Holy Spirit and work with Him to please God! Allowing unforgivness to continue leads to a break in unity. Work out disputes and move on in God’s grace! As Christians, we should be more than “good people.” We should lead transformed lives that stand out and make others seek Christ. Start fresh today!
Father, I pray for a refreshing of Your Spirit. Help me to empower, not inhibit, Your Spirit within me. Transform my life! I love You! Amen
