Daily Dose 5-6-12

Ruth 2:10-12 She bowed down with her face to the ground. She asked him, “Why have I found such favor in your eyes that you notice me—a foreigner?” Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”

Have you ever wondered why Ruth chose to stay with Naomi after her husband died? The custom was for her to return to her parents since Naomi had no other sons for her. Ruth insisted he stay with Naomi and care for her. Was it her idea, or did she sense God’s leading? The decision could not have been easy, but she stepped out on faith, prepared for whatever God had in store. She was obedient to God and Naomi’s instruction. The resulting blessing? The childless widow struggling with what appeared to be a limited future became a mother in the lineage of the Messiah! Choosing the right path in a difficult decision can have far-reaching impact. Give your decisions to the LORD and obediently follow His lead.

Father, I struggle so often for understanding between what is my idea and what is Your will. As I make choices, please give me Your wisdom and discernment…be obvious, I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer at times! I love You! Amen
