Psalm 145:8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
It’s hard for us to fully comprehend the attributes of God. It is not easy for us to imitate His reactions. Instead of following His example of extending grace and drawing near to those who disregard or betray; we are more likely to harbor resentment and avoid them. Instead of showing great compassion for those struggling and suffering; we are often quick to judge them for their actions that may have led to their circumstances. Instead of holding our emotions at bay when times are contentious; we fan the flame of anger inside and we lash out causing even more harm. Where He is rich in love; we are often content living below the poverty level, showing love only to those who love us. God doesn’t expect perfection from us in these matters, but He does intend for us to continuously improve along the way. How are you doing? Will you be more gracious today than yesterday? Can you look for peace today instead of fanning the flames of anger? Can you invest in loving the unlovely or those who reject or disregard your love? The pay-offs will reap great returns!
