Psalm 91:14-16 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Are you in trouble and needing God’s deliverance right now? PRAISE! We tend to face our struggles with prayers that lean more toward pleading and pitiful instead of power and promise. Call on the name of the LORD in love and adoration for Him. Call on the power of His name, knowing the same power that brought Jesus from the grave is available to you because of that victory! Put your struggles before God and leave them there while you exclaim over His majesty and adore Him in unbridled praise!
Holy One – I lay it all at the foot of the cross – every worry, every hurt and every struggle. Jesus’ victory enables me to have the confidence that You love me completely and You have the power to act when I call. I’m calling to You in loving praise – waiting for Your deliverance!

Luke 21:25-28 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
Could His return be soon…really soon? Every generation since Christ’s last physical steps on this earth has thought the signs were there. He may not be coming back for several more generations, but look around…a global pandemic, wars, great tsunamis, floods, tornadoes, terrorism, and such disregard for Holiness abound. It may take more generations before His return, but why risk it? Be ready today; and be sure others are ready. May we be found crying, “Maranatha! Lord, come quickly!”
Dear God, I know You will send Your Son like a thief in the night…when no one will know the time. Help my heart to be ready no matter when that time may be. Prick the hearts of those I love to long for Your coming and reward! Maranatha! Amen

Luke 24:2-6 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!
He IS risen and He lives today! The victory Jesus had over death was not temporary and it was not for a select group alone. All of our sins placed the nails in His hands. He endured the agony of the cross and the separation in the grave so that those sins could be forgiven. With His resurrection, He purified all to have the authority to approach the throne of God, in confidence, to receive His grace and salvation. Today is a perfect day to accept that gift if You have never received it. If you accepted long ago, but wandered away, it’s a great day to come home. If the cross doesn’t seem personal to you, imagine His exit from the tomb as He calls your name to the Father as, “Forgiven!”
Forgiving Father, I am so humbled by the sacrifice of Jesus. It pains me to know what He endured for me. Please prick my heart to be more aware of my sin and quickly repentant. What's your choice this Good Friday?
John 18:39-40 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?” They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!”
Was there a glimmer of hope on that day so many years ago? Jesus had prayed so fervently to avoid the cross the night before, yet accepted the will of His father. But at this instant–when Pilot offered the people a choice–did the vision of possibility run through His head? As He looked among the crowd, did He see those He had healed and ministered to with hope? Was He like a child for a moment waiting for the kickball team captain to choose Him? He was omnipotent. He knew in His heart the choice that would be made but He also knew the God He served, His Father, was able to make another way. For a split-second did He think this could be the way? The people He loved so dearly would choose Him over a common criminal? God could make that work! It didn't take long for the answer. The people shouted, "No!" We often desperately long for acceptance, friendship and love from people–often times, we are rejected. Our rejection may lead to sadness, disappointment or frustration. The rejection Jesus experienced that day led Him to cruel torture, a horrific death and most sadly, separation from His Father. Have you accepted that sacrifice? He still looks among the lost today saying, "Choose Me!" Will you do as the crowd did that day?
Precious Jesus, I chose You so long ago and that choice has made such an impact in my life. However, You don't ask for a one-time acceptance. Your sacrifice is worthy of my daily choice. I choose You over the sins that seek to condemn me knowing Your sacrifice that day paid the price for my escape. Thank You seems inadequate. Let my thanks be choosing You and Your ways all day, every day. I love You!

Daily Dose 4-6-20
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
The speech Moses gave the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land was very moving. This section of scripture is titled The Offer of Life and Death. What had Moses commanded them? In a nutshell, it was to love God and walk in obedience with Him. Moses spelled out the very clear consequences of a walk of obedience vs. a walk of rebellion. We have the same choices today. Our society doesn’t like to paint the picture of a God who punishes or allows us to suffer the consequences of disobedience, but He is just. The Israelites witnessed it firsthand. Know the choices they made are still options we have today. We may not bow before a golden calf, but our knees are sore from worshipping our earthly pleasures, desires and distractions. Before you start your day each day, commit it to the LORD. Pause before actions and consider what obedience to God looks like in that situation. Life is full of choices every day…choose wisely based upon the One you have chosen to love, trust and obey!
Holy and Just God, I know You have higher standards for me than I have attained. Forgive me for the choices I have made that were not in Your plan. Prick my heart to choose wisely each day! I love You. Amen

God delights in using those who are not the obvious choice. It’s easier to see His glory through one who is not capable alone, but with God, makes all things possible. Before you utter the words, “But, I can’t,” think of the One living inside you and know, “HE can!”
Father, Let me see the tasks You set before me through Your eyes. May I always be quick to say yes knowing You can! Amen

Daily Dose 4-1-20
Luke 9:46-48 An argument started among the disciples as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, took a little child and had him stand beside him. Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”
It’s reassuring to know those who walked in the flesh with Jesus everyday still didn’t get it. It makes it easier to understand our own shortcomings in our faith walk. If the apostles, in the presence of Jesus himself still had relationship issues and allowing pride to cause conflict, then it’s no wonder we are such a mess at times! The answer Jesus gave them then, is the same one He has for us today – serve one another. If you are in conflict with a brother or sister in Christ, serve them and serve others with them. Serving hearts heal a multitude of conflicts.
Father, Forgive me for allowing pride to come in the way of relationships. Help me to see where I can serve that will heal broken relationships. Open my eyes and open their hearts. Amen.

Daily Dose 3-31-20
Psalm 72:12-14 He will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
There are times when the most robust and healthy are afflicted; the strong and independent are pitiful and dying inside; the tough and mighty are oppressed and persecuted. We all need deliverance, some more often than others. Always remember when you are being oppressed by someone, there is probably something they need deliverance from. Cry out to the LORD on their behalf and ask Him to provide their deliverance through you!
Father, help me remember that those who break hearts are often heartbroken. Heal my heart so that I may be Your agent to deliver others from their pain. I love You…and them. Amen

Daily Dose 3-30-20
Psalm 71:19-21 Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?
Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.
Our God does great things. He has the power to relieve every hardship and stop every struggle. But sometimes, He allows us to endure them. We certainly do not understand why at the time. Maybe it is for a person years down the road who will experience the same challenge and needs counsel from someone who has been there. Maybe it is a key factor in building our character. Maybe it is a physical hardship we endure for a spiritual blessing. God does allow suffering, but He will recover and restore. Endure your struggles in faith that God has not forgotten you. Know that He will be with you through the challenges life brings. Lean on Him. He will lift you up!
Father, I want an easier life. But, in comparison to so many, my life is a breeze. More importantly, I want the life You want for me. Open my eyes to Your plan. Lift me up, restore my honor and comfort me with Your love. Amen

Deuteronomy 4:29-31 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him. For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
We all know the panic we feel when we need to leave and can’t find the car keys. All other thoughts vanish and the focus is on finding the keys. Not to downplay the importance of finding keys, but why are we able to pursue something so inanimate with such passion? It’s because we have a need. We need our car to get to our appointment…we need to GO! Sometimes, when we are afraid or in desperate need, we pursue God with similar passion. We pray promises of obedience, claim promises of provision, and focus on the end result of what God can provide instead of focusing on God for who He is. To seek God with ALL of our heart and ALL of our soul isn’t an occasional task we perform. It is a way of life. We look for Him in each circumstance everyday. We seek His input. We share our joys and sorrows first with Him. He is the first to know our heart when it is truly seeking Him.

Proverbs 11:24-25 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
It’s easy to list our needs and wants before the LORD. He has the capability to fulfill desires, calm fears, and heal hurts. He can do it all. But, maybe sometimes He would rather see His children doing it for one another. A mother can accomplish tasks for her children all day long, but what gives her most joy? When she sees one of her own willingly protect or serve the other – without being asked or told. Full of motherly pride, she rushes to praise and reward the child who thought of His sibling first. The same is true with our heavenly Father. When He sees unselfish, thoughtful actions, He rewards. When our hearts begin to beat to the tune of His and we see with His eyes, we will meet needs for others instead of focusing on our own issues. It is during that time, God meets the needs of the giver. Look with His eyes for work you may do today. Instead of fretting over your own distress, put it in God’s Hands and look to relieve the distress of another. It may surprise you how quickly your issues find resolution when your own worries aren’t providing fuel to add to their flames.
Father, Like everyone, I have a list of concerns, worries, and desires. Give me the faith to completely put that list in Your capable hands and exchange it for a list of another whose needs I can meet. Show me where You want me to work for You today! Amen

Daily Dose 3-20-20
Psalm 63:3-5 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
In our society, do we know what it is like to be fully satisfied? We are programmed to want more…marketers are actually convincing us we NEED or DESERVE more. Accumulation of power, stuff and pleasures is a high priority. When David wrote this Psalm, he was in the desert of Judah, probably on the run from King Saul who was trying to kill him. His prayer was not in fear begging for protection. His prayer was full of praise and professing that he loved God more than his life. All he needed for complete satisfaction was the love of God. Do we love God more than life? Or, do we love the life God can provide? Look to Him for your satisfaction today. He will never leave, He will never disappoint, God’s love truly does satisfy!
Loving Abba, Your love is my greatest possession and gift. Remind me when I come to You with requests and plans, that I have all I need. Let me never long for the love of others more than reveling in the love I have found in You. Amen

Daily Dose 3-16-20
Luke 2:33-35 (MSG) Jesus' father and mother were speechless with surprise at these words. Simeon went on to bless them, and said to Mary his mother, “This child marks both the failure and the recovery of many in Israel, A figure misunderstood and contradicted—the pain of a sword-thrust through you—But the rejection will force honesty, as God reveals who they really are.”
Simeon was an old man who had received the promise that he would not die before seeing the Messiah. He followed the leading of the Spirit to the temple and knew this baby would be the One to bring salvation and be a “God-revealing light to the non-Jewish nations, and of glory for your people Israel.” This blessing brought great joy to the young parents, but did they truly hear his caution of the pain that would come upon them because of His mission? To witness parents who lose a child is heart-wrenching. The description of a sword thrust through them seems to be fitting. We know the sacrifice Jesus made for our salvation was incomprehensible. However, imaging the pain of Mary and Joseph should also bring us pause. The baby they accepted as a great mission from God was also their precious boy. Joseph had probably passed on by the time the hardest parts of Jesus’ ministry began. For Mary to watch –especially without Joseph– the rejection, pain and horrific death He endured must have made her question why. Often, the path God has for some is painful. In many cases, it’s as difficult for those who love the one on the mission to witness the pain. Be sensitive to those who are enduring great hardships for the cause of Christ – and also remember those who love them. The biggest question we must ask today is are we doing anything that is really sacrificial for Christ today? If the answer is no, maybe we need to spend some time seeking guidance from the Spirit. Jesus never promised His followers an easy life-quite the contrary. Examine your mission plan and ask God to use you, despite how challenging it may be. The end result will surely be worth the pain!

God’s Word is full of common sense instruction and wisdom to help us live more abundant lives. This scripture in Proverbs is a small section of some of those gems of advice. How we treat people says a lot about who we are. When we are quick to criticize and belittle others, we show that our hearts are full of pride and self-righteous judgment. When we “stir the pot” of controversy through gossip or by betraying a confidence, we show that our hearts beat to the pace of discord. As Christ followers, we need to learn to step back from situations when we are drawn into controversy. We should never shirk from defending Truth, but be very careful satan isn’t luring you into a trap. Many Christians have been baited by satan under the pretense of doing good, only to be handed a spoon to stir a boiling pot that should never have been allowed to simmer. Be careful and remember the one stirring the pot is most likely to get burned!
Father, Forgive me for times I have been baited into controversy that broke Your heart. Give me Your wisdom to be silent when it is not of You, and the courage to speak only what You desire when it is Your timing. Guard my heart and my mouth that spews its contents. Amen

Daily Dose 3-14-20
Luke 1:37-38 “…For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
Have you had a word from the LORD? Has He asked you to do something that seems impossible? We often get caught up in the logistics and realities when trying to fulfill a task from God. We view situations through human eyes and our limited experiences. Faith asks us to put on God glasses and begin to view things from His perspective. Our human insecurities and frailties look at a situation and see all of the challenges. We are somewhat programmed to take a risk management approach, analyze the circumstances and halt the experience. We have a lot to learn from a teenaged girl who had every reason to say no. She faced ridicule and humiliation, yet she rejoiced in her opportunity. Has God invited you to do what seems impossible? Then press on! For nothing is impossible with God!
Faithful God, You are always true to Your Word. I get impatient waiting. I begin to wonder if I was wrong in interpreting Your promise. Give me Your eyes today. Let me see Your possibilities instead of what I see as impossible. Amen

Daily Dose 3-8-20
Psalm 51:10-12 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Psalm 51 is such a beautiful picture of confession. David had been caught in sin that was extreme. His anguish was not over being caught or the shame it brought to him. His anguish was over the fact that he had sinned against God. He knew His actions broke the heart of the God he passionately pursued. Often, when we confess, we do so in a prideful manner. We look at our sins as our failures or mistakes instead of looking at the results it brings upon the heart of God. True confession comes when we make it about Him and admit before God that what we did crucifies His Son all over again. God wants us to acknowledge and confess our sins but He doesn’t expect us to live in guilt. Like David, we need to confess – REPENT – and seek restoration. The sacrifice of Jesus is cheapened when we don’t move on from confession and repentance in victory. God is eager to hear our confession when we sin; but He is more excited about the end result of our restoration to Him, learning from or sins, and moving on to get back to His work.
Father, I know my sins break You heart. I come before You and offer sincere confession. Look at the blood of Your Son over me and cleansing my soul to be pure in Your sight. Help me to move on in the restoration and victory that the resurrection of Jesus brings to me new and fresh every day! Amen

Daily Dose 3-7-20
Numbers 8:22-23 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. At the LORD’s command they encamped, and at the LORD’s command they set out. They obeyed the LORD’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.
God’s timing is impeccable. It does not always fit in with our fast-food, hurried pace. Sometimes, God says, “Wait.” Oh, to have a cloud above or before us to undoubtedly confirm the difference between His Words of, “Wait or never.” We like definitive answers and confirmed plans. Even though we don’t want to go back to the day of offering animal sacrifices, some of us long for the visible confirmation of God’s commands. It may not be as easy today to interpret, but God still issues commands and calls for obedience. He supplies us with a manual through His Word. Any decisions we make need to be measured up through scripture. If you feel called to a direction that is contrary to God’s commands or examples provided through scripture, it’s safe to assume, that is not the cloud of God calling you. The hard part comes when You have a great desire for a work or a passion for God, that does line up with scripture. You feel His confirmation through the Holy Spirit in prayer. You have confirmation from those praying for you. Yet, the opportunity is not yet available…God is saying, “Wait.” Often, it’s how we respond in the waiting that determines how rich the reward will be in the end. God wants us to be fully equipped and fully prepared for His best opportunity. To launch before Him, give up in impatience, or lag behind when He says go will never meet the true fulfillment of His work in you, with you and through you. Stay close in His Word and in the Holy Spirit through prayer. Practice listening! The more you learn to interpret the nudges of God in the little things, the easier it will be to interpret His answers in the BIG decisions of life.
Maker of all Time, Help me to be obedient in waiting. Open my eyes to the lessons and preparations You have for me during the wait…don’t let me miss a thing! I love You and want desperately to follow Your timing. Tune my heart to live to the beat of Yours. Amen

Daily Dose 3-5-20
Mark 12:28-31 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
The way we love is a litmus test for our status as Christ followers as opposed to people committed to religion. It’s easy to say we love God. However, the ultimate demonstration of our love for Him is seen by how we love others. Jesus laid these two laws as the foundations for following Him because if we truly love God and love others, everything else we need to do will fall in line. It’s a domino reaction. Our love for God helps us to attain a healthy love of ourselves. We see ourselves through His heart and it tints our view of how we see others. When we begin to perfect our love, we see possibilities instead of shortcomings; we emphasize strengths instead focusing on weaknesses; we have compassion instead of criticism; we include instead of isolate. How are you loving others? It will speak volumes about how much you truly love God…and yourself.
Loving Father, Help me to get it right. Always remind me that You and Your son choose to love me even when I am most unlovable. Let my heart be softened to love You more everyday – so much so that it overflows to ALL those around me – not just those I find it easy to love. Amen

Daily Dose 3-1-20
Mark 10:17-22 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.” “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.” Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
Most of us call this man the rich young ruler. We often dismiss the personal application of this parable if we don’t consider ourselves wealthy. The personal application really has nothing to do with wealth. Jesus just knew that was this man’s issue. He loved his “things” and probably the convenience, luxury and power that came with them. If you saw Jesus face-to-face and asked Him this question, He may do as He did with this man and list a few of the things you have under control and in perspective. Just as you begin to feel pretty good, what would He ask you to sacrifice to be a true follower? What is it that you really put in front of following Him? Do you accomplish all the visible signs of religion, yet miss the relationship with Him? Do you place relationships with family and friends above Him? You may not consider yourself wealthy, but in the worldwide perspective, you probably are. Do you focus so much on work to live at a standard of living that could be reduced and give you more time and attention to truly follow Him in Kingdom work? Do you allow judgment and unforgiveness to skew your “Jesus view” of others? What is it that stands between you and being a true follower of Jesus?
Dear Jesus, Help me to see what’s in my way and give me the courage to move it aside. I love You! Amen

Daily Dose 2-28-20
Psalm 44:6-8 I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.
Our battles are a bit different than the fields of war today. But, the source of our victories is the same. We are quick to call on God for help in crisis, but not always as quick to credit Him for the victory. Take some time to list your past battles. Whether they be financial struggles, health crisis, divorce, rejection, loneliness, or a host of other issues – look for God’s Hand of protection or provision in those battles. Record them and praise Him. Share your list with others and give God the glory for your victories. Then, the next time you are faced with a battle, take out the list again. Praise Him for His faithfulness and give Him your sword and bow!
Holy God, Even though I don’t deserve it, You continually fight my battles. Even when I don’t know I am at war, Your protective shield covers me. I give You glory, honor and praise for my past victories; and thank You in advance for future conquests! I love You, Amen
