Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
This verse is written amongst the description of what love looks like in action. Not the love we have for ice cream, our favorite color, or our top-rated movie – this is a description of sincere love. Joyful, patient and prayerful are the action words to demonstrate our love. These translate to show our love for God as well as one another. When we face trials and demonstrate these characteristics toward God, we show our love for Him. When others challenge our love by their actions and we maintain these characteristics, we begin to love a bit more like Christ. Is there someone you know who needs to see your joy as they are in what they see as a hopeless situation? Is there someone who needs your patience as they afflict you with their annoying or hurtful behavior? Is there someone who needs you to really stand in the gap with them through prayer? Sincere love takes action. It’s not lip service. Instead of talking about things we love today, let’s show how we love because of our love for Christ!
Loving Father, You don’t merely say You love me, You show me every day. Help me to learn how to demonstrate Your love to others consistently so that You will be glorified. I love You! Amen
