Proverbs 8:12-13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
Have we as Christians become so desensitized to evil that we have become tolerant? Have we gone from hating evil to ignoring it – then from ignoring it to accepting it? An old analogy explains how to cook a live frog. If you place in live frog in a pot of boiling water, it will jump out to its freedom. If you place a live frog in warm water, it becomes comfortable and will stay. As the heat is gradually increased, the frog eventually meets his demise in the pot where he once became comfortable. This same concept is a tool satan uses to desensitize Christians from evil. We have become tolerant, sometimes even comfortable in the warm pot of evil. We no longer recognize the peril we face in compromising our values, character and Godly convictions. We have become so focused on being politically correct that we no longer give the Holy Spirit authority to make us spiritually correct. Open your eyes and ears to the evil around you. Make at least one small stand a day – even if it is as simple as turning off the television. Lift your arm out of the comfortable, warm pot of evil and ask God to rescue you from its gradual influence on your life. One less Christian in satan’s evil pot is one more out to warn others of its danger!
My Rescuer, Please forgive my acceptance of things that break Your heart. Forgive my willingness to be influenced by things that Your Word warns me against. Soften my heart again to evil, and give me the courage to jump out of its peril. Amen
